The Board of Education passed the “Healthy Students, Healthy Families, Healthy Communities” Resolution introduced by Board Member Richard Vladovic on April 12, 2011.  Its resolved is to make the excess or unused food served in the school meal program available to charitable organizations in an effort to reduce food waste.  

Who can participate?

All approved non-profit organizations. (Parent Centers are not non-profit organizations.)

How can organizations apply?

Complete the Food Donation Agreement 
Attach your organization’s Certificate of Insurance 
Email both to the Food Services Division [email protected]Please allow up to 2-3 weeks for approval process

How can schools help?  

2 ways schools can help:

  1. Encourage non-profit organizations in your community to apply!
    Provide potential applicants with the Food Donation Agreement Form
  2. Review the list of 2024 active organizations approved to pick up surplus food.
    Contact an approved organization near your school to ask if your school can be added to their pick-up.
    Inform Food Services that your school has been added to an existing organization’s route.
